Halloween Candy Corn Gradient

Hello lovelies! Today I have something a bit brighter, while still sticking to the Halloween theme. I've been loving all of the candy corn inspired nail art over on Instagram, and thought I'd recreate some myself. Being from the UK I've never tried candy corn, but I didn't let that stop me! Read on for to find out more.

I started with a base of my current favourite white polish - China Glaze 'White on White'. Below is two coats and topcoat.

I wasn't sure whether to go for straight clear cut lines (using vinyls/striping tape) or to do a gradient. I decided on a gradient as I've only ever done one (see it here) and I could do with the practice - plus it's much more fun than trying to get perfectly straight lines.

For my orange and yellow I used Essie 'Roarrrrange' and Nails Inc 'Seven Dials'. I painted a stripe of both alongside my white base colour onto a make up sponge, and let it soak in for a few seconds. I repeated this a few times at first to build up the polish. I rolled the sponge over each nail without worrying too much about blending the colours - I wanted the stripes to be obvious. I did each nail twice to build up a good solid colour.

I did forget to use liquid latex so excuse my messy fingers - woops! After a quick clean up I added topcoat and voila! My version of candy corn nails.

What do you think - do they look like candy corn to you? I really enjoyed doing something colourful. I still have a fair few Halloween nail ideas, hopefully I'll manage at least one more before the 31st. If not, I'll just have to wait until next year!

I've also just realised that all of the polishes I used (including topcoat) have been from nailboxes! I'm definitely getting good use out of them.

Hope to see you in the next post!
