The 'All About Polish' Tag

My favourite YouTubers have done another collaboration video - this time including Jess (jessFACE90), Amy (Nailpolish BabyyNinety), Lindsay (Lindsay Does Nails), Holly (MissHollyBerries), Zenorah (Zenorah/ZENnetwork) and Hannah (Hannah Eve Nails It). I love their collabs! They've come up with the 'All About Polish' tag, with 10 questions based on nail polish. I decided to answer them all myself. This might get pretty long, so let's get started!

1. What is your favourite nail polish finish (eg. creme, crelly, glitter, etc)?

My overall favourite has to be creme. I love the simplicity but also the elegance of a smooth creme polish. A very very close second for me is textured. I don't know why but I absolutely love a rough textured finish. My two favourites couldn't be any more opposite - woops!

2. What is your favourite “pretty ugly” shade?

I would have to go for OPI's 'Who The Shrek Are You?' from their Shrek collection. In the bottle it is not a very pleasant colour (pretty much a snotty, bogey green), but I love it.

I have been after OPI's 'Pineapples Have Peelings Too'. It is so so weird yet somehow screams out to me. I've not quite bit the bullet yet as it's 50/50 as to whether I'd love it or hate it.

3. Which polish in your collection is the most sentimental to you?

This has to be OPI's 'Who The Shrek Are You?" again. This was the first polish I actually sought out and bought, and was my first OPI. I wasn't massively into polish at the time, my mum still painted my nails for me! When I first started dating my boyfriend, we watched all of the Shrek films so many times. So when I heard about the OPI Shrek Forever After collection I had to have at least one. I chose what I considered to be the main polish of the collection - Who The Shrek Are You? Even though it's not the prettiest colour, it will always be my favourite polish.

4. If you could go back in time and buy any collection, what would it be?

OPI's Shrek Forever After collection (can we see a theme here?). I would have absolutely loved to have had the whole collection at the time. I've managed to get four of them since - Fiercely Fiona, Who The Shrek Are You?, What's With The Cattitude? & Funkey Dunkey. I will eventually get the other two. I was extremely lucky to get not only one, but two bottles of 'What's With The Cattitude?'. On UK amazon it's £97.19!! Crazy or what?!

5. What is your go-to “all occasion” polish?

I wouldn't say I had a specific go-to polish, but my go-to colour would probably be pink. I can't say I have an all time favourite, although my recent favourite pink has to be OPI 'Kiss Me I'm Brazilian'. Apologies for the old picture!

6. What items are essential to your nail care routine?

Hands down - cuticle oils/butters and hand cream. I also don't think I could live without a decent base coat and a glass/crystal nail file. My current favourite nail care item is Burt's Bees Lemon Butter Cuticle Cream. You can read my nail care essentials blog post here.

7. What is your favourite “newly discovered” brand (indie or mainstream)?

The newest brand I've been most excited about it is Nine Zero Lacquer, created by jessFACE90 herself. It would feel wrong to class this as my new favourite brand as I'm currently waiting on a preorder and haven't actually tried one of her polishes yet.
So instead I'm going to say Picture Polish. They were one of the first brands I followed on Instagram, and finally got one a few months ago (Fool's Gold). I fell in love and ordered eight more polishes within two weeks! I have yet to come across one without a good formula.

8. What is your go-to “bad ass” colour (the colour that makes you feel sexiest or most bad ass)?

Definitely a deep purple or a deep burgundy. There's just something about them. Barry M recently released the stunning 'Sprint Finish', which fits perfectly into the vampy category. I must admit I did feel that bit more confident when I wore it.

9. Indie or Mainstream?

Based on my collection I would have to say mainstream. I didn't have many indies until recently. Although I've definitely branched out and now buy more indies than mainstreams. I'm loving the uniqueness and creativity that you tend to find in indie polishes. Ask me again in a few months and my answer might be indie!

10. Which brand's collection(s) do you look forward to the most?

Being the brand that started my collection (and my addiction) I will always follow Barry M. They have so many different collections and finishes that I feel like they have something for everyone. I get super excited every time they announce new releases, and always rush out to get them.

So there we have it! What would you answer? Leave a comment and let me know! Remember to check out all of the lovely YouTube ladies mentioned above and find out what they think. Lindsay has created a YouTube playlist including this and all previous collabs here.

See you in the next post!

  1. My go to polish is Sally Hanson sugar, like this morning, I put in on, was dry in less a minute or two, enough for me to put Sally Hanson sand glitter on top, then less then 5 minutes, I was doing my hair, makeup getting dressed and out of the house, you just can't beat that,

My go to colours?? I always end up with reds, be then bright or dark, but laterly wearing a lot of blues and greens.
