Glam Nails Challenge - March 2022

Hello lovelies! As some of you may know, I decided to take part in this months Glam Nails Challenge. For those unfamiliar, Glam Nails Challenge is a monthly nail art challenge over on Instagram, with themes for every Wednesday and Sunday. I have taken part several times in the past, but not for quite some time - so I fancied giving it a go again! The challenge finished yesterday, so I figured I'd jump on here for a round up. Read on to see all my manis in full.

Before jumping into my nail art, here's the prompt list for this month.

Glam Nails Challenge - March 2022 @acertainbeccaa

Beginning us off is 'sweets'. I'd only recently recieved a Clear Jelly Stamper parcel full of plates from their huge UK sale, among which was plate Sweets & Treats (CJS V-23). I stamped the layered wrapped sweet image over a base of Painted Polish 'Tuxedo Toast' using MoYou London 'Sweet Custard', 'Periwinkle', 'Cool Pool', and 'Flirtatious'. I used the same polishes to create a gradient on my ring finger, before stamping the 'life is short, make it sweet' wording from the same plate.

For 'hearts', I ended up with the mani below. I started with a skittle of the pastel Barry M gellys 'Iced Latte', 'Lavender', 'Candyfloss', and 'Berry Sorbet'. I then stamped hearts using the same plate again, Clear Jelly Stamper Sweets & Treats (CJS V-23) in corresponding colours. I had intended to use the second layer of this design, but in all honestly I struggled lining it up so gave up.

Next up, for 'geometric', I stuck to a simpler mani. I stamped over a base of Painted Polish 'Slippers & Sweaters' using a layering image from UberChic Beauty plate 21-02. Instead of layering the image up as intended, I decided to stagger it for a slightly different look (plus I wasn't feeling confident after my hearts mani!).

The fourth theme for March was 'chevron'. I had an image in my head for this one, and thankfully it came out just how I'd envisioned it. Over a base of Esmaltes Da Kelly (now Phoenix Nail Polish) 'Andromeda', I stamped individual chevrons from UberChic Beauty plate Got Chevron? using a rainbow of stamping colours.

'Yin-yang' was one of the themes I was a bit unsure about going into the challenge. However, I did find a small yin-yang symbol, among lots of other patch type designs on Clear Jelly Stamper plate Hippie Harmony (CJS-117). I stamped a variety of the small images over a base of Barry M 'Blue Margarita', which I had double stamped using a textured image from Lina Nail Art Supplies plate Make Your Mark 02.

For 'checkered', I created an Alice in Wonderland themed mani using MoYou London Alice plates 02 and 03. I started with a white base (Sally Hansen Insta-Dry 'Coconut') before stamping the checkered image on my ring and pinky nails, and adding Alice and The Mad Hatter to my pointer and middle nails. I finished off with a bit of double stamping to make some of the hearts and diamonds red.

Moving onto the 'abstract' theme, I wanted to create a mani for this without any stamping. I love stamping but I do sometimes neglect other nail art techniques, so it's nice to put my stamping plates aside once in a while. I did some wet brushing, some dry brushing, and some dotting over a base of Lou It Yourself (now Bluebird Lacquer) 'Like A Fat Kid' to create the look below.

'Flames' was another theme I was unsure on to begin with. After a scout through some of my stamping plates, I came across the layered meteor image on B Loves Plates Cosmic Space plate, and knew it was a winner! I used various stamping polishes and stamped over Danglefoot Nail Polish 'Higitis Figitus'.

The last prompt for March was 'dots'. I went back to my new Clear Jelly Stamper plates for this, as I love the cute ladybird images on the Gnome Place Like Home (CJS LC-17) plate. I stamped over China Glaze pink jelly 'There She Rose Again'. I'm pretty sure that the stamp on my ring finger is a butterfly, but I've dressed her as a ladybird so it works!

And there we have it! What do you think? I thoroughly enjoyed taking part in the Glam Nails Challenge this month, and I've loved trying to think of some of the prompts a bit more creatively, instead of going straight for quick simple designs. I'm hoping to take part in April's challenge too - stick around to see if I do!

Hope to see you in the next post!
