China Glaze - Holiday 2021 Jewels Royale Collection

Hello! It's time for my first blog post of 2022! I haven't blogged quite as much as usual in the past few months, but I am hoping return to more regular posts, including both swatch and nail art catch ups, collection swatches, and all the goodness I've neglected to share over here. To start us off, I'm here with my swatches of the China Glaze Holiday 2021 Jewels Royale Collection. I was tempted by these for a while, finally caving and grabbing the whole collection from Nail Polish Direct. Read on for my full swatches and more info!

Before diving into the individual swatches, I'll address the overall formula here. There is quite the range of finishes among the eight polishes, but I found them consistently smooth and easy to apply. A few of them were on the border of being two or three coaters on my nails, so I applied 3 to be on the safe side. With the exception of 'Ice & Bubbles' (which I'd suggest using with a peel off basecoat), all of the glitters are easy to remove. Onto the swatches!

'Ruby Riches' is a pinky red base with coppery red glitters. This builds up beautifully. Below is three coats with topcoat.

'Emerald Magic' is a a rich green base with added glitters. I feel like there were a good few hints of pink and red in the glitters of this one. Again, this builds up really nicely on the nail. Below is three coats with topcoat.

'Spoil Me Royal' is a shimmery royal purple. This reminds me of Cadbury packaging! Depending on your application, I think you could get away with two coats of this. Below is three coats with topcoat.

'Glistening Pearls' is a sheer pink with iridescent flakes and a bright blue shimmer. I could still see my nail line after three coats on this, but the flakes and shimmer do distract from that in normal everyday lighting. Below is three coats with topcoat.

'24K Noir' is a deep olive green densely packed with gold glitter. This would have been perfect for a New Years mani if I hadn't waited so long to get it! Below is three coats with topcoat.

'Stay Frosted' is a light frosty, shimmery blue. This one dries down to a matte finish. I did take pictures both with and without topcoat, but there wasn't a massively noticeable difference in my photographs. Below is three coats with topcoat.

'Ice & Bubbles' is a champagne/nude microglitter. This one has a clear base so can be used as a topper, but it is pretty dense from the first coat. Below is three coats with topcoat.

'Sapphire Up!' is a rich blue base with bright blue glitters. This is one of the ones that would easily be passable in two coats. Below is three coats with topcoat.

What do you think? I loved this collection so much more than I thought I would. I'm glad I finally caved. My favourites are the almost jelly bases with glitter, especially 'Ruby Riches' and 'Emerald Magic'. I've also enjoyed doing nail art with this collection which you can see on Instagram (find me here), or likely in a nail art catch up post on here in a few weeks time.

For those of you in the UK like me, you can find the full China Glaze Jewels Royale Collection on the Nail Polish Direct website here. The full collection is currently £46.54, and individual polishes are £5.82.

Hope to see you in the next post!
