Whats Up Nails - Frosted Tips Collection (& More!)

*AD - Gifted*
Hello lovelies. Today I have the Whats Up Nails Frosted Tips Collection to share, as well as a few stamping plates from the brand. I only recently tried a Whats Up Nails plate for the first time, and had yet to try their polishes, so I was super excited when the brand reached out to me. The Winter 2021 Frosted Tips Collection consists of 6 polishes all with different finishes - including a creme, a shimmer, a metallic, a jelly glitter, a thermal, and a flash reflective. I've also had a play with all of the plates. Read on to see everything!

Before I start with the individual swatches, I'll address the polish formulas and quality of the plates. I found all of the polishes super smooth and easy to apply. They do differ in opacity due to the big range of finishes, so I'll mention that for each one below. All of the images on the plates picked up first try with no issues, and transferred nicely (although I did get caught out by the clear film haha!). Let's get stuck into the swatches!

'To and Froyo' is described as a 'creme light pink with lilac undertone'. This was pretty much opaque in two coats for me, although I did add a third for a few minor streaks. Below is three coats with topcoat.

I paired this with a few images from plate B071 'The Whole Nine Gourds', a plate of autumnal and thanksgiving images. I live in the UK and don't celebrate thanksgiving, but couldn't resist some of the themed images, especially the 'family dinner survivor' wording.

'Cherry-bration' is described as a 'metallic red'. This was so close to being a one coater for me. I only needed a quick second coat to even out some minor patches. Below is two coats with topcoat.

Being the perfect Christmassy red, I had to go with something more festive for this one. I stamped various images from plate A022 'Back To Flurality', a plate packed full of snowflakes and snow/ice images. I really like the snow flurry images stamped on my ring and middle fingers.

'Slippery When Cold' is described as a 'chrome shimmery blue'. This starts off fairly sheer, but builds up nicely. Below is three coats with topcoat.

The next plate sent to me was B064 'Wakey Wakey, Eggs and Bakey', and is full of food related images. I reverse stamped the popcorn image over each of my nails, resulting in the look below.

'Teal Good Moment' is described as a 'dark teal with gold to green iridescent glitter'. Again, this one starts off on the sheerer side to ensure the glitter shows through, but builds up really well. Below is three coats with topcoat.

Similar to 'Cherry-bration', this one feels like a staple Christmas colour to me, so I went back to plate A022 'Back to Flurality' for some more festive snowflakes. I paired them with a winter scene image from a plate I recently purchased myself, B065 'Winter Flurryland'.

'The Glint Life' is described as a 'flash reflective holographic glitter with holographic flakies'. I had yet to try a flash reflective polish before this one, so I was super excited to have a play. The glitter distracts from any visible nail line enough to get away with two coats, but if you're picky (like me!), you may want to add a third. Below is three coats with topcoat under daylight lighting.

Now for the fun part! I did think the reflective glitters would only really activate under flash lighting, but I was pleasantly surprised with how reactive it can be in normal day to day lighting. My bathroom and kitchen lights were the best.
To show the effect, below is three coats with topcoat under flash.

For nail art, I decided to do another food themed mani using plate B064 'Wakey Wakey Eggs and Bakey'. This time around I decided on the eggs and bacon image, reverse stamping it so I could colour it in.

'Pump the Rakes' is described as a 'thermal orangey pink to dark brown with pink to gold iridescent flakies'. You could get away with just two coats for the dark brown in the cold state state, however I applied a third to ensure the softer warm colour (the orangey pink shade) would be fully opaque. All pictures below show three coats with topcoat. Here is the transition from warm (nailbeds) to cold (tips).

Finally, here it is in the warm state. Please excuse the pinkness of my skin after warming my hands up!

The last plate I have to share is B062 'Never Lose Control', which has a mix of book, nerd, and gaming images. I mixed and matched a few of the different images, stamping in gold to ensure it would show up other both the warm and cold colours. I photographed the stamping in the cold state, as that tends to be my natural state for thermals.

What do you think? I love how many different colours and finishes this collection have, and I'm definitely a new convert to Whats Up Nails stamping plates! It's been a few months since I've posted on here due to numerous different reasons, but I'm glad to be back! I have still been posting regularly on my Instagram page - you can find that here if you'd like to see any swatches and nail art you've missed.

You can find the full Frosted Tips Collection, and all stamping plates mentioned, on the Whats Up Nails website here.

Hope to see you in the next post!
Becca x
