Swatch My Untrieds - Barry M

Hello! Today I'm back with another swatch my untrieds post that was never posted, this time full of Barry M polishes. The first polishes I ever purchased for myself were from Barry M, so I definitely consider them my 'gateway' brand - as well as my favourite drugstore/mainstream brand, if not my favourite overall. I have well over 100 Barry M polishes, including numerous untrieds. Read on for full swatches of four of them!

First up is 'Blueberry', a bright blue from the Gelly Hi-Shine line. This has a gorgeous formula. It is smooth and easy to apply, and very opaque on the first coat. It was slightly streaky, but a quick second coat evened everything out. Being a Gelly, this dries lovely and glossy. Below is two coats without topcoat.

'Dragon Fruit' is a soft but bright pink with a subtle shimmer. This is another Gelly polish. It is smooth and easy to apply, although is a bit sheer and streaky on the first coat. A second coat builds up the opacity nicely. I did add a third coat for some minor streaks. Again this dries glossy. Below is three coats without topcoat.

Next is 'Poppy', a rich berry red with a bright pink shimmer. This is from the Silk line, which all have a matte satin finish. It applies really smoothly and easily, and is almost a one coater. It was the slightest bit patchy, so I added a second. You could easily get away with just one thicker coat. This dries nice and quickly to the satin finish. Below is two coats without topcoat.

I also added a quick coat of topcoat to show the difference. It really makes that shimmer pop.

Last is 'Lime Green', a lime green (unsurprisingly!) from the older classic line. This has more of a jelly finish, which I didn't realise until putting it on. It is very sheer but applies smoothly and evenly. It builds up a nice amount in three coats, although if you wanted it completely opaque I'd suggest a white base. This dries glossy. Below is three coats without topcoat.

What do you think? I just love Barry M polishes! I've never tried a polish from either the Gelly line that I haven't liked, they have such reliable formulas. 'Poppy' is the only one of the silk line that I ever bought and now I want more! As for 'Lime Green', I may be alone but I'm digging it - it's fun! I think it could be blinding over a white base!

You can find a wide range of Barry M polishes on their website here. You can also find them on the Superdrug website here, and Boots website here.

Hope to see you in the next post!

  1. Gorgeous swatches! My sister has dragon fruit so I may have to borrow it off of her. I've never seen the satin collection before but I need some as that one is gorgeous xxx

    1. Thank you! The subtle shimmer in Dragon Fruit is just lovely! I think the Silks are discontinued now as they are quite an old release, but definitely keep an eye out for them :) xx
