OPI - Shrek Forever After Collection (2010)

Hello lovelies! If you saw my recent post showcasing the MoYou London Shrek Collection of stamping plates (find that post here), you would have known this was coming - swatches of the OPI 2010 Shrek Forever After Collection! This is one of my all time favourite OPI collections, and was one of my gateways into the polish rabbit hole. Read on for my full swatches and more info!

Before jumping into the individual polishes, I'll address the formula. I did find that these have a thinner, streakier formula overall. This is most likely due to being old, but OPI did also have a thinner formula back in the day. I feel like I added an 'extra' coat on most of them just to make sure they looked perfect close up, but it wouldn't have been necessary for day to day wear.

'Rumples Wiggin' is a pale lilac creme. My bottle of this has sadly faded, and has lost most, if not all, of the purple pigment - it is now more of a muted grey. I have seen people with similarly faded versions, and others with more lilac versions, so I may have to hunt down a less faded bottle! I had a few very minor streaks after three coats, so added a thin fourth for the sake of swatch pictures. Below is four coats with topcoat.

'Fiercely Fiona' is a yellow creme with a good hint of green. I was fully expecting to need a good few coats of this one, being a softer colour, a yellow, and an older polish. That being said, it wasn't far off being perfect in three coats, and if I wasn't being picky, I could have left it there. Below is four coats with topcoat.

'Who The Shrek Are You?' is, well, a Shrek green creme. This is one of the thinner ones of the collection. Similarly to 'Rumples Wiggin', I added a quick fourth coat just to make sure it covered completely evenly for photos. Below is four coats with topcoat.

'What's with the Cattitude?' is a soft sky blue creme. This one of the better formulas of the collection, and depending on your application and preference, could easily be a two coater. Below is three coats with topcoat.

'Ogre The Top Blue' is a bold blue creme. This one was pretty much there in two coats. I had a few lighter patches on one or two of my nails, so added a third. Below is three coats with topcoat.

'Funky Dunkey' is a bold purple creme. Being darker, this had one of the more opaque formulas. I did add a third coat to even out a few lighter patches. Below is three coats with topcoat.

What do you think? This will always be one of my favourite nail polish collections. I love the colour palette, I love the inspiration, and I do feel fairly sentimental about them. 'Who The Shrek Are You?' was my first ever OPI polish, and the rest followed on from there. I was really happy to have an excuse to pull them all out again. The formulas aren't quite as good as current OPI's, but that just shows how much they've improved in recent years!

Hope to see you in the next post!

  1. I have these. The first 4 as minis and the last 2 full bottles. I had Ogre The Top Blue on recently and it chipped within 3 hours. Did yours last longer than that?
